Clinical Duties:
? Anesthetic outpatient and inpatient care.
? Responsible for pre-anesthesia assessment for each patient under my Anesthesia Care. Assist in and preparing the anesthetic machine / theatre / and drugs before each case.
? Plan for and Administer anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal, or caudal methods.
? Development and documentation of Anesthesia Care plans for patient.
? Participate in induction / maintenance / reversal of assigned patient
? Monitor patient before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications.
? Provide and maintain life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery.
? Record type and amount of anesthesia and patient condition throughout procedure.
? Decide when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery. Handover to recovery of other staff including ICU.
? Confer with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain.
? Coordinate and direct work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers.
? Ensure appropriate communication with patients and staff.
? Active participation in the afterhours Anesthetic Registrar roster.
? Participate in acute pain management, obstetric anesthesia services.
Non-clinical duties:
? Engage in self-directed as well as work-directed learning of relevant principles and material.
? Participate in Departmental continuing education program & in Quality Assurance activities
? Teaching junior medical staff, students and other personnel.
? Presentations at Department meetings.
