Sr. Maintenance Technician
Job Location : Doha, Qatar
Typical Duties & Responsibilities :
• Inspect accessible equipment surfaces for leaks, corrosion and loose fittings, noting the location of each defect for follow-up.
• Carry out authorised lubrication tasks, checking the specified lubricant and quantity to prevent contamination or excess filling.
• Check measuring tools for damage and calibration status, and remove unsuitable items before they produce misleading readings.
• Review pending maintenance requests against fault severity, highlighting items that need earlier attention because equipment condition has worsened.
• Monitor commonly used spare parts and report low stock with clear part references so purchasing staff can identify replacements.
• Separate removed parts and contaminated consumables under applicable disposal rules, checking that reusable materials do not enter waste containers.
• Flag temporary repairs for review, making their limits visible so planners can arrange a lasting solution where necessary.
• Show less experienced colleagues approved work methods when assigned, and check their understanding before they attempt an unfamiliar task.
Useful Skills & Competencies :
• Technical reading: Understand drawings, part references and maintenance instructions well enough to recognise component differences and operating limits.
• Diagnostic reasoning: Separate symptoms from likely causes, and judge whether the available evidence supports a repair decision.
• Measurement skills: Read units, tolerances and trends correctly, including when an unexpected reading needs further confirmation.
• Risk awareness: Recognise stored energy, contamination and access hazards, and understand when personal authority or training is insufficient.
• Clear explanations: Describe technical findings in plain language so operators and planners understand the practical effect of a defect.
• Practical judgement: Weigh repair options against reliability and uncertainty without promising results that the available evidence cannot support.
