We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Infectious Disease Specialist to join our leading healthcare facility in the UAE.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in infectious disease diagnosis, antimicrobial management, infection prevention, and treatment of complex and emerging infections, with a commitment to evidence-based and patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal medicine physicians, intensivists, microbiologists, pharmacists, surgeons, infection-control teams, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive infectious disease consultations and clinical assessments.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
Evaluate patients with fever of unknown origin, recurrent infections, and complex infectious conditions.
Develop individualized antimicrobial and infection-management plans based on clinical findings and microbiological results.
Manage patients with severe and complicated infections, including sepsis and systemic infections.
Provide specialist input for infections affecting the respiratory system, urinary tract, gastrointestinal system, skin, bones, joints, and central nervous system.
Manage patients with hospital-acquired, healthcare-associated, and opportunistic infections.
Provide guidance on appropriate antimicrobial selection, dosing, duration, and de-escalation based on clinical and microbiological findings.
Review and interpret blood cultures, microbiology reports, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, inflammatory markers, and other relevant investigations.
Assess patients with infections in immunocompromised and high-risk populations.
Provide specialist management of HIV and other chronic infectious diseases where applicable to clinical expertise.
Evaluate and manage travel-related, tropical, and imported infections where applicable.
Participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs and promote appropriate antibiotic use.
Collaborate with infection prevention and control teams regarding infection surveillance and outbreak management.
Provide consultation for patients requiring pre-operative or post-operative infectious disease assessment.
Coordinate management of complex infections with surgeons, intensivists, oncologists, hematologists, nephrologists, and other specialists.
Provide infection-control recommendations for isolation, transmission-based precautions, and management of communicable diseases.
Educate patients and families regarding infection, treatment, medication adherence, prevention, and follow-up.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential medical records.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, infection-control initiatives, quality improvement, teaching, and continuing professional development.
Follow applicable UAE healthcare regulations, professional standards, clinical guidelines, antimicrobial stewardship principles, and facility policies.
Candidate Requirements
MBBS, MD, or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
Recognized postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases, Infectious Disease Medicine, Internal Medicine with appropriate infectious disease specialization, or an equivalent specialty.
Relevant post-specialization clinical experience.
Strong experience in diagnosis and management of infectious diseases.
Good knowledge of antimicrobial therapy and infection-control principles.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Experience managing complex, hospital-acquired, and opportunistic infections.
Good understanding of microbiology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Excellent communication and patient-management skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
