Paul is a Director - Operations / Business Excellence in Al Jaber Group (AJG), UAE and has been working with Al Jaber since May 2015. He works directly with the Group CEO (GCEO) of Al Jaber Group.
Some of his key responsibilities in Al Jaber Group are:
• Focused on Business Excellence for large capital-expenditure projects, across their project life cycle. I.e. from bidding, project planning, project execution, project monitoring & controls, and project closeout.
• Established and implemented a portfolio performance dashboard for the key companies in the Group providing trend analysis on the performance indicators;
o In addition, a project progress dashboard was prepared for the multiple projects under each Business Unit.
• Assessed the overall Project Performance System for a large infrastructure project under execution;
o Assessed the planning, preparation, coordination, productivity, Management Control System (MCS), and field execution.
• Conducted specific performance improvement initiatives such as launch of Central Procurement, clustering of similar businesses in the industries sector (for e.g. steel structure business), merger of problematic entities with proficient companies thereby improving the yield for the merged company, etc.
• Headed operational meetings with the Executive Director’s of Business Units and analyzed the performance based on KPI’s including Project margins, Variations / Claims, Work in Progress (WIP), Accounts Receivables (AR), Accounts Payables (AP), Cash Flow Available for Debt Servicing (CFADS), Revenue to Manpower ratio level, and Return on Average Capital Employed (ROACE);
• Improved efficiencies in Working Capital Management;
• Implemented Payroll Cost Efficiency plan;
• Transformed companies through Organization restructuring (macro level);
• Developed a strategy plan for AJG with joint efforts with the Group CEO and the Group CFO;
• Developed business plan / budgeting for AJG based on an aggregation of the individual Business Unit’s and the Head Office (HO) support function budgets;
Prior to Al Jaber Group, Paul was a Manager in KPMG in the Infrastructure & Government Services – Major Projects Advisory (IGS-MPA) practice. He was working with KPMG from September 2009 to April 2015.
At KPMG he has been delivering multiple solutions – project / business improvement initiatives, project monitoring and controls, construction contract compliance, organization / project risk and governance assessment, project closeout audit, project management maturity audits, revenue assurance audits and preparation of Internal Audit Plan for organizations.
Paul has assisted in developing KPMG’s Controls Assessment Tool (CAT) that comprises of 7 control categories, their subsequent sub-categories and assessment criteria. The CAT tool comprises of modules that enable enhanced Program / Project Risk Management, Project Controls assessment and benchmarking, Leading Practice Implementation (LPI), Project symptoms-based analysis and root causing, among others.
Paul has been instrumental in developing KPMG’s Portfolio Monitoring tool (kPulse) that provides companies a project monitoring and controls solution. Key features are - Project reporting via last planner inputs; stakeholder based reports via pre-defined escalation matrix; forward looking report for balance work and backward looking reports for deviations.
Prior to KPMG, Paul has worked with DHL Express as Project Manager in the Operations Program Group. He has experience in Project management for Infrastructure and Service Programs for infrastructure facilities across the country and region.
Paul is a PMP certified professional. He has conducted trainings to clients and internally on Project Management, Risk Management, Primavera and MS Project scheduling tools.
